The comparisons to Kate Bush (who is also Irish) and Bjork (who isn't) aren't far off, but the most similar vocalist to Cathy Davey is probably Cerys Matthews, the lead singer of Catatonia, the Welsh pop-rock band who were active from 1996 to 2001 and had a big hit with a song called "Road Rage." Davey's voice is just a bit less ragged, though, and her music doesn't have much in the way of distorted guitars, so it's a little closer to "waif-rock." But it's catchy and well-made, generally speaking. Thumbs-up!
