It's been over a decade since Nipsey put out his first mixtape, and finally, in 2018, he drops his debut LP. The album is an hour of revivalist g-funk and gangsta rap, capturing the 90s LA vibe and mixing it in with more contemporary West-Coast sounds, with Nipsey enlisting artists like Kendrick and YG as features. The album is packed with 'solid' songs, with some really good ones, ("Last Time That I Checc'd", "Hussle & Motivate") but also a throwaway or two, ("Rap Ni**as".) Overall, it's a good listen but probably not worth the thirteen-year wait from long time fans.
