There was a time when people got tickets to Jerry Jeff Walker shows to hear him sing and tell stories. Then there was a time they did it to hear David Bromberg play guitar.
Then the previous times returned-- but Walker had spun off the damnedest floating crap game, circus band, and polygenric musical and unmusical roadshow ever. Flaming Lips can keep their hamster balls and such-- Bromberg had Richard Fegy juggling, some guy playing imaginary wind instruments, Peter Ecklund channeling Buddy Bolden, and some geek who was headed to Dwight Yokam's band but stopped off long enough to play James Brown licks on the violin, sing "Great Big Idol With The Golden Head" and ask the immortal question "Voulez Vous Couchez Avec le Fromage Ce Soir?"
And all those bellydancers singing the chorus to "Sharon"
