Brilliant carrer solo or as Lemonheads frontman. Struggled all his life with substance abuse.
Evan Dando’s career is defined by a transition from high-school punk rocker to a global alternative icon, marked by periods of immense commercial success followed by personal struggles and a persistent cult following.
Dando co-founded The Lemonheads in 1986 while still at the Commonwealth School in Boston. Initially, the band was a raucous punk outfit influenced by the Minutemen and the Replacements. After releasing three independent albums on the Taang! label, the band signed with Atlantic Records in 1990. This era saw Dando take creative control of the band, refining their sound toward a more melodic, "country-tinged" alternative rock.
