This album reminds me of a less-stylishly-lavished monsters of folk album, but its understated scope and delivery underlines its touching appeal. Also, like monsters of folk, this "supergroup" is made up of lead members of other bands, although since the most "popular" is deer tick, i think "semi-supergroup" might be more appropriate. Regardless, many of these songs are quite affecting.
