John Lennon and Yoko Ono's double fantasy. After 5 years of parenting, John Lennon was ready to start over. Here, nearly every John Lennon song is replied with a Yoko Ono song. John usually sticks to a more typical choice of genre while Yoko crazes out a bit more! In the light of John Lennon's murder three weeks after the album's release, it's a bit ironic to think of his famous quote "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." found in the song "Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)"!

Absolutely restless and insanely creative record by Talking Heads! It's crazy and very infectious, at the same time challenging with its cacophony of sounds, African rhythms and frontman David Byrne's signature "spitting" way of singing. No doubt that "Once in a Lifetime" is the standout here with its out of place accessible and catchy chorus.

Paul McCartney's experimental album. Just like the first album in the "McCartney duology", it's a collection of regular songs and Paul playing around in the studio. Instead of old school 70s jamming, it's Paul having fun with synthesizers and other electronic equipment. The partly atonal and highly experimental single "Temporary Secretary" is easily his most divisive song to this date, inside and outside The Beatles!

Play the game with Queen in the 80s way. The first use of synthesizer on a Queen album is found here making it clear what decade we're in. A little less crazier than "Jazz", but still a unique collection of songs that range from everything between rockabilly and funk rock, the latter giving Queen success with their hit "Another One Bites the Dust" and ultimately inspiring them to make their next album "Hot Space" full of similar funk rock songs!

A little less light-hearted than the debut, "Sun of Jamaica", and a little less sentimental than "Holiday in Paradise". "Mama Coco" and "Love Tequila" should appeal to those who love the fun side of this band while "Day After Day (How My Time Drifts Away)", not surprisingly given the long title, is more relatable for those with a broken heart! Overall, a balanced effort.

The Beach Boys are still keepin' the summer alive, even in the 80s! If you thought the last couple of Beach Boys albums were too adult-oriented, then it's a big AVOID this time around. If not, you'll get a delightful guilty pleasure with catchy if somewhat cheesy songs with at least two entirely successful tracks.

With scary monsters and super creeps, you know it's gonna be unpleasant. If the Berlin trilogy was weird, then this is outright insane! Bowie's shocking vocal and the crazy Japanese lyrics of "It's No Game (No 1.)", what sounds like barking monsters in the title track, the fact that there's a song called "Scream Like a Baby", it's all disturbing stuff meant to freak you out!

Black sea of XTC quality. Not so much to say about it actually, not much that stands out compared to other XTC albums. A good thing when it comes this band!

Catchy and a lot of fun! This collection of 80s rock is powerful in its own right. The syncopation in the chorus of "Keep On Loving You" couldn't be more faithful to its own decade!

With Barbra Streisand and one of the Gibb brothers (Bee Gees) under the hood, the title probably refers to what kind of pleasure this album is (in fact, "Guilty Pleasures", also together with Barry Gibb, is the sequel to this album)! It may not be an album known for its cool factor, but if you're into Barbra Streisand and Bee Gees, then you're in for a treat!
