I haven't included The Beatles (except The White Album), Stones, Hendrix or The Beach Boys. I just don't think they need the votes and it must get very repetitive for those who read these charts.

James Brown compilations are manifold, I've heard a couple myself that are don't work nearly as well as this one. I bought this second hand in the 80s and thought it was a perfectly balanced collection of JB's music upto 1969, a sweetly blended mixture of ballads (Prisoner of love), instrumentals and funk (the longest track on the album 'Cold Sweat Pts 1&2) is in just the right place on this collection and never sounded so good as it does in this mix). To whoever at Polydor compiled this one I'd like to say a big thankyou. You did your job well.
