Top 10 Music Albums of the 1950s
by weedygonsalez
A whole bunch of wonderful things happened to music in the 1950's. Unfortunately, very few of these wonderful things could accurately be chronicled by an album-oriented site, since much of it occurred in a segregated market still dominated by the influence of singles and radio. Still, I'll try to represent, as best I can, some of these changes and their accompanying highlights in the album game.
ALSO, and I am perfectly aware that this is cheating, but I am going to include a brief list of my Best Songs Ever in this space because A) there isn't a chart for songs yet and probably never will be, and B) there isn't anything else really going on in this space. Unordered until further notice:

Most blues smashes released in the '50s came out on smaller formats than LPs, only to be compiled in the later decades, so consider this a stand-in for the absolute musical juggernaut of Chicago Blues in the 1950s. Muddy Waters is perhaps the best-known artist to emerge from that scene, with damn good reason. He was the seventh son of a seventh son before anyone in Iron Maiden was even born.
