Best Australian album of the year

Sometimes I think live music positively affects my appreciation of albums. I saw Grinderman live twice around the time of this album, and the first time I was in exactly the right frame of mind for this. I lost myself in the wizardry of Warren Ellis and the way him and Nick Cave, the showman, worked so perfectly together. It was such a memorable experience I can't help but be nearly taken back there every time. The second time live was just as good too! A short lived concept project but we got two great albums and some fantastic live performances so I'm not complaining.
10/10 song: Mickey Mouse and the Goodbye Man (sets up the album for a great example of what you are going to get), Heathen Child, & Kitchenette [First added to this chart: 07/19/2017]

Best compilation album of the year
Just a basic greatest hits playlist cash in...but in terms of individual songs they are nearly all 10/10 songs and just hit after hit that will keep the interest of the casual to ambivalent Nirvana listener. Nothing new here for full on Nirvana fans though, but I do love a compilation (possibly because back then we didn't have playlists, and availability was limited, so compilations were often the best way to get to know a band) [First added to this chart: 04/30/2019]
