Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 3% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 80.0/100, a mean average of 78.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 81.3/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.0.

Mercury TOP 100 COMMENTER 12/25/2012 16:08 | #58878
This album is fabulous! It's more polished than
"The Wild Hunt" and "Shallow Grave" and that can
be a good thing or a bad thing. The songwriting
is as good as ever! The song "Criminals" is
ABSOLUTELY one of the greatest songs of his.
The guitar playing is incredible especially on "Criminals"
And "Leading Me Now" and the vocals are in top form
The whole album through. From top to bottom this album
FLOWS well. There are fast and slow song, happy and sad,
Love-filled songs and heartbreak. It's really impressive.
He's my absolute favorite musician out there right now!

Top to bottom instant classic. His voice does not sound like Dylan's.
