Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 82.4/100, a mean average of 80.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.0.

A sonic delight that serves as an ode to the New York punk scene with a fresh interpretation of the scene filled with great electronic instrumentation and hard hitting melodies.

A pegada de dance-rock é fantástica!
This album is a joy to listen to as every song is allowed to progress and fulfil its true potential. This best showed on Dance Yrself Clean, I Can Change and You Wanted A Hit. All of these are amazing tracks and work both within the album and separate from the album. There is so many highs and so much to explore on this record that it is difficult to know where to start. Every song is multi-layered and allows for exploration and the lyrics are also really great as well. If there has to be a down side to this album it is the fact that it slows down near the end with Pow Pow and Somebody's Calling Me not really living up to the greatness around them. The last track however is a fantastic closer and one of the best on the record. Overall, definitely worth a listen and is still an amazing album overall.

Favorite Tracks: Dance Yrself Clean, I Can Change, Home
this is my favourite album ever. it's hard to even write about how much i love it. it's warm, funny, bittersweet and every second of it makes you happy to be alive, happy to have friends, happy to be going out and having fun. it sounds like life - it's nostalgic, heartbroken, drunk, bitter, sarcastic, hungover and starry-eyed. sorry for the wank, i just can't help it. james murphy, thank you x
As fun as Sound of Silver, and more interesting.
Sounds like a Gary Numan modern album but with more dancing songs
Some truly outstanding moments on this album, including Dance Yrself Clean, You Wanted A Hit, Home, and I Can Change. However, there are also a few songs that weren't too interesting to me (Drunk Girls, Somebody's Calling Me). Overall, great record, just wish is was slightly more consistent.
