Top 40 Greatest Music Albums
by Electronic Barry Unknown

The aim of my chart is to pay homage to any artist who's music can be considered to have been (significantly) generated electronically. I will include anything from old skool keyboard driven bands to hip-hop to drum and base to techno to EDM. These genres have given me great pleasure and whilst they don't generally seem to be too popular on this site, I would ask that you give my chart genuine consideration, open your minds and... come chill with Electronic Barry.

Thanks for the rating Barry. I know a lot of the albums on your chart, much I really love
This is probably one of the boldest and most honest charts I've seen on here. I will make a point of listening to the albums I don't know.

Fever Ray might be the best electronic album in recent memory.

Nice one Jim - I take it all on board, especially the tip (there is always room for new discoveries). Feel a bit limited by 40 choices TBH. There are some other great albums that would fit this MO. Re: Calvin Harris - I take your point, but the idea is very much to include 'good times' music and not to always defer to music made with a straight face (not to say that Kraftwerk didn't have a sense of humour).

Welcome aboard the BEA bus, Baz. Interesting idea for a chart... even more interesting that Calvin Harris is above Kraftwerk... each to their own though! Would definitely echo Meruizh's comments re. Fever Ray - fantastic stuff. Lots of stuff missing in my opinion - Daft Punk, Justice, Cornelius to name but 3 - and I'm sure there's loads of fantastic artists you haven't discovered yet (try Ricardo Villalobos for starters) - be interesting to see your chart 6 months down the line, will be keeping my eyes open!

@meruizh - Thank you very much for the rating and comments. I do appreciate other types of music as well, but this is a chart reflecting my passion. Thanks for the tips also – I’ll check these out – I do need some new stuff and my chart is a bit too heavily weighted towards the 90’s. All subject to change, of course.

i think there is more in music than electronic, but i respect your chart.. i think you should listen to Fever Ray if you like the Knife. Röyksopp, M83, Washed Out, Air... Have amazing proposals, checked them out
