Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. I love this chart! To see the best albums by John Coltrane, Mos Def, Black Star, GZA, The Beastie Boys, The Orb and DJ Shadow on a chart with many of the most respected rock classics is both refreshing and encouraging! Thank you..
