Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 2% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 81.6/100, a mean average of 79.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.1/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 17.1.

Did you know that school friend of the band, and fellow Bristolian, graffiti artist Banksy once did a mural on a classroom wall of one of their, unloved, teachers having a massive heart attack. This is how the band got their name. They soon shortened it.
Norman said it best in the earlier comments. Basically first three albums are great but after Mezzanine there really isn't much. Still, those first three are something special.
What Norman said.
Massive Attack are one of those acts where I love all of their albums, really come to appreciate their beauty and meaning in the past few years. Very underrated act, their music is more famous than the name; but if it was the over way it wouldn't be good. I love how they changed genre through the albums, like urban trip hop, to electro. They make very cinematic music and have always kept it real. Get listening to all their albums now!
Great band who span several genres. Blue Lines, Protectio and Mezzanine are all classic albums. Heligoland was a welcome return to form as well. Very influential.
Brilliant up until "Mezzanine", boring after that.
