Yes, Wonder Woman is well-meaning if a bit too saccharine for Kacey and Velvet Elvis feels somewhere in between SMFTA Everclear and Savage Garden (I shit you not), all that's missing is a vague abortion theme and it probably would've cleaned up in '97, but that doesn't work at all. Those are just minor missteps in one of the most gorgeous, emotionally rich albums of the decade so far. Her gift for unfussy eclectisim, wooly yet clever songcraft and fortright truthtelling with the wryly funny lyrical sequiter occasionally thrown in have all gelled perfectly, the soul-searching, adventerous spirit of Same Trailer Different Park and the finesse of Pageant Material coming together for a direct yet gorgeous album all about feeling comfortable for exactly who you are and you're place in the world. "Slow Burn" is a stunning bango-led, leisurely drawn out rooster-crow of an opener that perfectly captures that moment between dreaming and waking, while the earnest back-and-forth boogie of "Lonely Weekend" and the lush folk-y tracks of "Happy and Sad" and "Oh What a World" make up her most elegant and exquisitely detailed compositions yet. And for once, she truly knows how to not just scrape the roof but blow the rafters off with a perfectly direct and encapsulating yet still luxurious and towering closer "Rainbow". It's just a wonderful record for any mood really (though early morning weekend is still the best), no need to over-explain anything as the record more than speaks for itself

At first everybody's just hanging on the wall, so you start gleefully batting everybody on the shoulder to start dancing, we all form a circle and start tapping along and then everybody is being lifted into the air one by one slowly defying gravity, when you finally hit the floor again you start sliding from one end of the room to another, then for some reason after you stand upright everybody starts stabbing one another and y'all keep tripping and wobbling but keep moving, nobody wants the circle to break, you're scared but joyful and for some reason even with all the gore the only terrifying prospect lies when the weird, brutal synergy ceases and the party finally ends. Just keep going, child.

The 2017 chart is gonna look a lot different once I actually listen and relisten to some stuff I had neglected before. I can confidently recommend the yugo shit on the chart though. Širom are fantastic.
I thought Melodrama was... okay. I'll give it another shot.
Snail Mail counts as emerging, no? Or Let's Eat Grandma. Otherwise no idea, I think you're more of an expert on this haha.

Posted the 2018 chart as well, but like the 2017 one, it's still work in progress. I heard between 30-40 albums each of the last two years, so I've got a lot of listening to do.

Well you got that one out of the nostalgia pandora's box, unfortunately My parents had to sell rock band stuff to hlep me to pay for college ;-;. But when I finally gradute in 5 years I will be surely playing SOPHIE drunk in wine every friday night
