This album is hipnotic and I absolutely love the dreamy aspect of It. "Flight 22", "In my Dreams" are some of my favorites, and "Gotta Get Up" is one the best interludes ever.
Really this feels like an album only worth listening the whole way through, but once you do, you get so immersed in her world that you don't want to ever get out of It.
Simmering pop perfection - Kali seems to be a total chameleon, adapting and performing no matter where the songs take her. As a collection of songs, this year's best release, and some really, catchy songwriting.

If this were three or four tracks shorter, this would be a classic. Instead, it's a little too long, and merely kinda great.
Absolute masterpiece! Saw her live as opening act for Lana Del Rey and she is an actual goddess. Her EP Por Vida was very promising and she absolutely delivered. Favorites include "Miami", "Flight 22", and "Dead To Me" Can't wait to see what she does next!

Kali's vocals on here are both its greatest strength and biggest weakness. At times, her vocals are sensual, groovy, and entrancing. At other times, they can seem uninspired and one-dimensional. Still, a great blend of R&B and Latin influences, making for one of my favorites of 2018.

Sure to be regarded as one of the finest additions to the 2010s alternative/neo-RnB wave. Isolation is confident, summery and innovative, with Uchis' alluring voice being the real driver for the record. The smooth blend of contemporary RnB and Latin-influenced beats feels really well done, while the eclectic range of featured artists properly help to expand the sound of the record. Tyrant in particular really hits the mark thanks to Jorja Smith's fantastic voice.
A strong debut for Kali Uchis and already guaranteed to be one of my favourite records of the year.

Some of the songs are sultry and sexy (these are the best- "After the Storm", "Just a Stranger"), others are perhaps surprisingly more in the Amy Winehouse vein ("Flight 22", "Feel Like a Killer"). The producers of tracks influence the sound quite substantially, though often successfully, Damon Albarn creates a catchy fest with "In My Dreams", while Kevin Parker takes a spin on "Tomorrow". So in some ways I wish she had a bit more control to match the songs to her voice, but in other ways, we get something quite eclectic here, which makes it good for repeat listens.
Very interesting blend of Rnb/soul/Hip-Hop/Latin sounds.
Her voice is sugary and compelling.
