Top 36 Music Albums of 1978

1978 was such an exciting time for music. Arbroath was miles away from anything that was happening. Thank goodness for John Peel, Sounds, Melody Maker and the NME. These helped point me in the right direction when I went to Woolworths, John Menzies or Elena Mae's for my vinyl.

Lydon proves there was more to him than just the Sex Pistols. This is a marker for what came next.

Magazine are one of the greatest post-punk bands ever. Howard Devoto's lyrics working around that great sound was amazing.

Buzzcocks were a staple diet amongst us at school. It gave you a legitimate excuse to say the word c**k! Oh happy days.

Talking Heads had a rhythm section to die for. Songs were kept tight allowing David Byrne to add whatever he felt was needed. Great cover on this one.

Hamburger Lady has the creepiest lyrics I have ever heard. One of my friends was banned from playing that one track even when she wasn't in the house.

This is such a great pop album. While Mr Dilly was on a cigarette break, we were allowed to play records. Buzzcocks were a favourite amongst the boys of 3 Green.

I have only just realised how good this album is. The Stones were not too cool at this time and it was hard to buy their 'latest album'
