Mindblowing compilation of much of Burials best post-Untrue efforts. Surely a cardinal sin to have a compilation at no. 1 but the tracks picked and the way they are sequenced makes this a much more cohesive listen than your usual single-artist comp.

Menacing and unforgiving yet liberating and beautiful. Surely Matana is the best in jazz at the moment. Some surprises here with instrument choices as always, totally takes the listener on a journey. Lovely flow between each piece. Boundary-pushing for sure, but not to a degree that things get too heady and alienating.

This scratches a certain itch. An album of back to back bangers that sound like a DJ set at some seedy club 100 years in the future. The only weak link is ‘1999’ as the most normal of the lot, still a great tune.

Love the production on this and obviously there is no one else out there with a voice like Brittany’s. At some points it feels like a spiritual sibling to Black Messiah? Abrasive psych soul with a touch of dirty South blues but this album looks inward where D’Angelo was looking outward.
