Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

One of those songs that cannot get old.
One of the greatest songs of all time.
Masterpiece!
Best song the Beatles did to that point. THIS was the beginning of true greatness.
Over-rated as a Beatles tune - it's basically a McCartney solo performance with an anonymous string quartet.
One of the most popular The Beatles song in Russia))
Minghe, but no so bad
John complained that the lyrics do not resolve, but that's the whole point; the narrator is trapped in universal, inexplicable sorrow. McCartney is a master of restraint here--lyrically and musically.
The most covered song in the history of popular music. Whether you like the song or not, you simply cannot argue with that kind of statistic. Yesterday, is one Paul McCartney's masterpieces, a timeless classic. Personally I feel that McCartney has written better songs, better ballads too, but it is still a fantastic track. The superb string section is the icing on an already delicious cake. It gives the song a poignancy, a feeling of regret, that it wouldn't have without it. Yesterday, is a haunting classic.
