Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 5% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 80.7/100, a mean average of 80.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 80.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 11.8.

I don't understand why this song disappointed Lennon so much. I think lyrically it could have been weaker - I'm looking at you "Run For Your Life".
I really don't care if the lyrics are cheesy cos this is a tight song with cool chords! The watery guitar at the beginning is cool too

Lyrics are pretty cheesy and all, but Lennon's delivery is incredibly convincing
In 1980 Lennon told Playboy journalist David Sheff: "I always thought it was a lousy song. The lyrics were abysmal. I always hated that song."
In his 1997 biography Paul McCartney: Many Years from Now, McCartney said of the song: "Sometimes we didn't fight it if the lyric came out rather bland on some of those filler songs like 'It's Only Love'. If a lyric was really bad we'd edit it, but we weren't that fussy about it, because it's only a rock 'n' roll song. I mean, this is not literature."
Nothing more than filler, but I really like this song, always have, always will. It's a bit generic, but the Beatles could always write incredibly catchy songs even on auto pilot. Decent album track.
I prefer the anthology version but this is one of John's best love songs imo. Looking back he didn't think much of it though.

Beautiful song, love the rhythm nd the sounds, specially the lyrics, completely incredible song

Definitely one of the gems of the album. Loved it.
