Based upon a painting that his son Julian had created, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, is John Lennon's Alice in wonderland for the psychedelic era. It's an absolutely wonderful invention, the lyrics are superb, beautifully written, and the brilliance and originality of the music keeps it from being a novelty record and in turn makes it an essential part of the, Sgt. Pepper, experience.
