For a LOOOOOOOOOONG time this was my favorite The Who record. Still relatively consistent and fun.

My hot take is The Who never made a good rock opera. Both are subpar. _________________ Add me on RYM

I'd probably agree that both are very inconsistent, even if the stories are cool. Although Love Reign O'er Me is one of the best 70s rock songs period. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart

I think I agree with baystate. Both are fine albums but subpar. I agree with LedZep that they are both inconsistent, but I don't think the stories are cool. Tommy's is solid but Quadrophenia...meh.
I do LOVE The Who though, despite not having one of their albums on my top 100, they're almost certain to be in my top 10 artists. One of the first cassettes I had was a greatest hits of theirs, and one of the first CDs I had was also a greatest hits. I think for that reason I might find their songs great, but their albums a bit meh. Quadrophenia has some bangers though, "Love Reign O'er Me" included. _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!
