Six Days On The Road
written by Earl Green & Carl Montgomery

This cover version was recorded for the soundtrack of the film Planes, Trains & Automobiles by Steve Earle in 1987.

The original was not a hit, and came from a not very popular singer named Paul Davis in 1961.

I don't know Six Days on the Road, but I know EIGHT Days on the Road.

Landslide
written by Stevie Nicks

A well known cover and a hit for The Chicks in 2002. The song is perfectly suited for banjo and for Natalie Maines' voice.

From the album

Home by Dixie Chicks

The original appeared on the self titled 10th album by Fleetwood Mac, the first to include Nicks.

David Ruffin's version of "Rainy Night in Georgia" was recorded in 1971, but for some reason, was not released until 2004. I think it's one of the better versions of the song that I've heard.

I think the most well-known version is probably the Brook Benton version, but the original version was by the song's writer, Tony Joe White and it's from 1969. I don't like this original version.

Here's a cover of the song "Crying Over You" by Trijntje Oosterhuis from 2011.

And here's the original version by Little Willie John. He recorded it in 1962, but for some reason, it wasn't released until 2008.

If there's another version of this song, I don't know about it. As far as I know, these are the only 2 versions of this song. If someone here knows of another version, please let me know.

Here's Cissy Houston's cover of "I Wish it Would Rain" from 1982. I think it's a very soulful version.

And here's the original version by The Temptations from 1967.

One of the most amazing covers I know. Del Shannon singing Running scared. How can you make one of the most dramatic songs even more dramatic? How can you outorbis Orbison? (And get rid of the Schmaltz?) I love the original but this is better.

Like A Rolling Stone
written by Bob Dylan

In 2012, Amnesty International released Chimes Of Freedom, a four CD charity tribute album of songs written by Bob Dylan. (There was also a 2 cd version sold at Starbucks.) Seal and Jeff Beck got together for this recording of one of Dylan's greatest songs.

From the album

Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs Of Bob Dyl...us Artists

Dylan's original from 1965, which remains great today and is still what I would call the definitive version of a song that has been covered by many:
