Has anybody listened to the new albums from Lupe Fiasco, Joey Bada$$, or J. Cole (2014)?

I have the the Joey Bada$$ on vinyl. Been listening to it all week. I haven't really listened to new music in a while so I went out on a limb and listened to the guy at the record store. Im enjoying it, probably about 8-10 really solid tracks.

So what's the deal with 2Pac?
I listened to some of his stuff after his presence on To Pimp A Butterfly, and it seems pretty solid, but he's so rarely discussed on this forum, especially compared to his contemporaries like Nas, Biggie, even Mobb Deep.
He seems to be painted as such an influential figure by some Hip Hop artists and has a huge following, yet none of his albums have been able to breach an 80 here or a 4/5 on RYM.
Is the consensus that he's an overrated artist that's just been popularized by his early death? I wasn't really old enough to know his story when he was alive, so genuinely curious.

This here made me look twice I suspect it's prerecorded unless you mean he was there as an influence.

From what I've gathered, a lot seem to think this is the case, but I mean, I think he's great personally. _________________ 2023 Chart

In my experience Tupac appeals much more to black people than to white people, which would at least partly explain the lack of talk about him here. He's fucking amazing though. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

I've always appreciated Pac more for individual (absolutely brilliant) songs than for entire (still really good) albums, and idk if that's a common opinion but if so it might explain the lack of buzz on primarily album-centric websites.
Still everyone needs a little Pac in their life

I agree with the above statements fully. I absolutely love Pac. He's such a beast, he's so emotional and his flow is literally the coolest fucking flow ever! I adore so much of his stuff. But I've yet to find a complete album to latch on to as his defining ALBUM. All Eyez On Me has been a big part of my listening routine lately. Its killer. But as an album it's not up to the cohesive classics some of his peers dropped. But as fâ as individual tracks, damn he's mind blowing. I still think "Hail Mary" is one of the greatest tracks ever, for examp. _________________ -Ryan

oh no it's great, fantastic really, as are several others of his I enjoy, it's more that none resonate with me as a cohesive whole in the same way or to the same extent as my all-time favorite hip-hop albums, even if the choice songs are forever among my favorites
