One minor issue I have with this is the lack of the Lazy Line Painter Jane boxset. It's exactly the same as the first disc of Push Barman (i.e. the three 1997 EPs), but I prefer it due to Push Barman tailing off a little in terms of consistency towards the end of the second disc. I think those first three EPs are pretty much perfect (as is the fourth, This Is Just a Modern Rock Song, which turns up at the beginning of disc two of Push Barman), whereas some of the songs towards the end of Push Barman just aren't as good at all. Therefore it affects my rankings. I think the boxset containing the first three EPs is actually better than any of their other releases, whereas Push Barman taken as a whole isn't quite as strong as either of their first two LPs. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Great point. I'd easily rank Lazy Line Painter Jane either first or second (to If Your Feeling Sinister). But, I'm not sure how I'll rank Push Barman (haven't heard it.)
I was actually going to ask whether we could include Lazy Line and then I saw that those eps were part of the Push Barman comp.
edit: Thanks, Cuba!!!

You should definitely check it out, especially if you haven't heard the This Is Just a Modern Rock Song EP. It's also got some other great tracks on it (the instrumental b-side 'Judie Is a Dick Slap', which is far better than than the rather irritating a-side 'Legal Man', not to mention 'Marx & Engels' and the fantastic 'The Loneliness of a Middle Distance Runner'), but unfortunately it's home to some rather less great tracks too (the aforementioned 'Legal Man', 'Winter Wooskie', and the too-bouncy-for-its-own-good 'I Love My Car', on which Stuart decides to do a poor Ray Davies impersonation). Overall the material on the second disc is still better than most B&S albums, especially those since the turn of the millennium, but some songs definitely let the side down a little. _________________ 2021 in full effect. No ranking the comps, as I've never listened to those EPs back to back, although I do own them and think they're B&S best works, most notably Dog On Wheels and Lazy Line Painter Jane, sheer perfection. Which reminds me to state that I always thought B&S were a splendid EP outfit: none of their LPs approach the to-the-point Woolity quality of their EPs. Their second LP is the closest though.
So:
1. If You Are Feeling Sinister
2. Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant
3. Tigermilk
4. The Boy with the Arab Strap
5. The Life Pursuit
