Out of these, there's only three matchups I feel strongly enough about I feel the need to make a defense.

The first is 1H, in which I feel sorry Peter Lorre is against such a heavyweight (Frances McDormand in Fargo) but he definitely gets my vote in this case. Such an incredible performance of creepiness balanced with sympathy. His role is really a huge portion of what makes M work so well.

Next is 1N. Despite Daniel Day-Lewis being one of the greatest actors of all time (and There Will Be Blood being tied for his best role) Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond is probably the best performance by an actress in history. For acting in general the only things I've ever seen that I may possibly consider better are Peter O'Toole's appearances in Lawrence of Arabia and The Ruling Class.

Finally is 1DD. I'm very glad Jack Lemmon has such a presence in this tournament with two nominations, but while I'm definitely going for Lemmon in 1A (for The Apartment) when it comes between him in Some Like It Hot versus Audrey Hepburn in Wait Until Dark, Hepburn gets my vote every time.

Also, Vincent Price in The Great Mouse Detective for Round 2!!

This might be the most one-sided match-up I could imagine.

Because it's such a lot of voting in one post could it be left open for two weeks to enable those of us who want to watch a few of the films we haven't seen to do so?

1r: Abstain
1s: Peter O'Toole in Lawrence of Arabia
1t: Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight
1u: Helena Bonham Carter in Fight Club
1v: Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects (but I prefer Blue Is The Warmest Color as a film, and that performance is stunning)
1w: Abstain
1x: Abstain
1y: Jeff Bridges in The Big Lebowski
1z: Holly Hunter in The Piano
1aa: Ralph Fiennes in Schindler's List
1bb: Joaquin Phoenix in Her

1b: abstain
1c: Charlie Chaplin in City Lights
1d: Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting
1e: abstain
1f: abstain
1g: Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (though maybe the hardest one)
1h: Frances McDormand in Fargo
1i: John Cusack in High Fidelity
1j: James Stewart in Harvey
1k: abstain (though Wings of Desire is my dad's favorite movie of all time)
1l: abstain
1m: Peter Sellers in Dr Strangelove
1n: abstain
1o: abstain
1p: Uma Thurman in Kill Bill: Vol 1
1q: abstain
1r: James Stewart in It's a Wonderful Life
1s: Jim Carrey in Man on the Moon
1t: Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight (Only because Heath was all that made the Dark Knight for me and Forrest Gump could've been someone else/other characters were good/etc)
1u: abstain
1v: abstain
1w: abstain
1x: Emily Watson in Breaking the Waves
1y: abstain
1z: abstain (Though I read that as "The Pianist" at first and was confused. Also if I could go back, I'd've nommed Brody for that)
1aa: abstain
1bb: abstain
1cc: abstain
1dd: Jack Lemmon in Some Like It Hot
1ee: abstain
1ff: Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction

Not horribly well versed in movies, feel uncomfortable unless I've seen at least a large chunk of each. I'll admit I missed some parts of some of the movies, mostly those I voted against, though also I think 1 I actually voted for, so IDK.
