'Valerie' is the best new wedding disco staple of the past twenty years. Line it up next to Luther and Dexy's and watch your aunt go wild. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
Pretty sure I would like Romulas more on repeated listens but it didn't really grab all that much first time around-sounds pretty though. Yeah, I nominated Valerie as it's a great bop. Also, for me the arrangement, production and vocal performance is just so good that its a great headphones listen too. Vote to Ronson/ Winehouse.
Probably the underdog on here (and understandably so, Valerie's a tune, my other half picked it up for me on vinyl many moons ago and I jam to it a lot), still gotta go with my nom naturally, not everyone's Sufjan pick no doubt, but to me it's his most raw and honest piece of work and it just hit me hard at a pretty bleak time if I'm honest and it's stuck with me ever since, on its day it can float around my favourite songs of all time's upper echelons. It just gets me. _________________
To me Michigan is almost on par with Illinois. His two best albums, and Romulus is my pick here. That being said, Valerie made me miss 00s radio music, or at least a part of it. It's a great track, and I may vote for it in the next round if it progresses, but not here. _________________ Finally updated the overall chart
This is a really satisfying match. 2 very even songs that hit very different spots. Imma give it to Valerie cause it's a near perfectly written pop tune
