Gram Parsons' greatest achievement. This album contains the best songwriting in country rock, with Hillman often being overlooked for his songwriting contributions here. They also had the greatest pedal steel player ever commited to tape in Sneaky Pete Kleinow
Bought this album in the 90's after hearing a couple of covers off it, Belly's Hot Burrito #1 and Dinosaur Jr's Hot Burrito #2. Without these covers I'm sure I would have dismissed the album as being "too country" but I persevered and although I still have reservations about the generic country sound there are some great songs here.
If you like early whiskeytown or especially the jayhawks, you'll hear that sound all over this album, quite possibly the progenitor of alt-country. There are no tracks here you'll instantly recognize, but the entire album (save the sorta-talking "hippie boy") are all fine early Americana-tinged rock.
This album is bada**. "My Uncle" makes me want to move to Canada more than I already desire.
Some good tracks here! Christine's Tune and My Uncle were the best ones.
It's a milestone of country-rock. Parsons in his very high power like songwriter. Hillman with glorious delightful harmonies.
I always did love Hippie Boy. It is one hell of a song in its own peculiar little way. The album is good, not more not less.
Of all the albums here this is my latest discovery
