Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 5% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 76.4/100, a mean average of 75.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.2.

I may be in the minority here, but this is actually my favourite White Stripes album!
Top track: A Martyr For My Love For You
Eclectic, smart, done with taste, It was a hard task not to make for example "Conquest" sound cheap, but they succeeded.
I like this album better than Elephant and Get Behind me Satan. I feel it was a bit of a return to their earlier, rawer sound. "You don't know what love is" and "I'm Slowly Turning into You" are my favorites.
"Icky thump" è un ottimo lavoro, con la canzone omonima sugli scudi e con gli altri pezzi che ondeggiano come al solito nel blues duro e scorticato con tendenze progressive, suono ormai tipico della band.
Underrated
People are haters with this album. It is difficult to play all the way through, as some songs just do not hold up at all (I'm looking at you 'Conquest'). I do feel, however, that the 'good' songs are REALLY great, which kind of balances the album out, I don't accept this as their Swan Song album though. I think they have a revival album in them somewhere, someday.....
I think this is The White Stripes least satisfying studio album. I like the 2 opening songs and the closing 4. The songs in between are filler or unsuccessful experiments with their sound.
It's alright, certainly nowhere near as good as, Elephant, or, White blood cells. Just above average.
The opening track is a pure deul-of-the-outsized-guitar-riffs rock monster, the rest is more content to be playful and experimental rather than overpowering. Unlike Get Behind Me Satan, however, they actually seem to be having fun here, so it's an overall enjoyable record if still a bit of a far cry from their earlier classics.
