Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 7% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.6/100, a mean average of 74.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.1.

Really an absurdly strong testament to Spector's genius, not only as a producer, but also as a songwriter.

This is a greatest hits album of all of Spector's doo-wop hits from the 1960's. My mom listened to this stuff while I was growing up so it brings back a lot of good memories for me.

Best cuts: "Black Pearl", " Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Marshmallow World", although it is hard to pick one best. These first two songs would be in my all time top 10 tracks. "Black Pearl" is the perfect R/B song and it could be the best record ever made IMO,... everything on this song has direction.. focus is the production, the vocals, an unearthly arrangement with choir, strings, about a guy putting his girlfriend on a pedestal despite her place in life. "To know him is to love him", was the first song that I remember being conscious of hearing it on the radio, so it had a big impact on my later musical taste. to me, it sounded like a dirge that was also a love song...but the flip side of the single,"don't you worry my little pet", is better but unfortunately, not on this collection. If you like Phil Spector, you must check out this song( only on the flip side of the single "To know him is to love him"
