Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 22% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.9/100, a mean average of 73.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.7.

This album has grown on me over the years and with each new listen.
Not their best, but it's still good. A couple of the weak tracks let the album down a bit (Snooks and Crawling with Idiot). Not A Job is superb, one of their best. Love the instrumentals on I've Got Your Number too. Ribcage is nice too.
This is the 4th Elbow album I've purchased and it has not let me down. Not as outstanding as some of the others as a few tracks on this can fall under the filler category. But still a very worthy album with the majority of songs up there with some of there best
The weakest Elbow album in my opinion. It's not bad but it just hasn't got that same focus and decisiveness as their other records. Still, it is Elbow, so all is not lost, just not their best.
Ribcage, Fallen Angel, Snooks (Progress Report) are FANTASTIC. Last time I listened to this album a lot I rated it higher than this time... curious if it is a grower and it's just been a while, or if it really is less good than I thought before.
My favourite album ever recorded. The opening sounds and chords on Ribcage, and the interlude between Fugitive Motel and Snooks are among the most beautiful, aurally pleasing sounds I've ever heard.
For some reason I never noticed it before, but this album is a lot like Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden. And with each listen is grows more and more profound. From the poetic lyrics, to the brilliant musicianship that blends jazz and post rock into lush arrangements. It's an album that seems much simpler on the surface than it actually is.
