Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 17% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 77.0/100, a mean average of 75.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.3/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 18.5.

So underrated. I can't believe they aren't more loved. Some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard is from this band. Guy Garvey is a brilliant songwriter.
Really loving these guys at the moment! There's a bit of a proggy feeling to their music, but moreso in the focus on texture, dynamics, and timbre, as opposed to epic song lengths and solos. Guy Garvey has of course described their music as "prog without the solos" and I think that's a fair description. As it is, their music is accessible and emotional, but also heady and experimental enough that there's plenty to uncover on subsequent listens. To boot, Guy Garvey is a great lyricist and vocalist. This band kind of has everything I find myself drawn to in music. Good stuff.
I got into these quite late but I like what I've heard. They remind a bit of Peter Gabriel and Genesis. They come under the radar and for me underrated.
Un des mes groupes préférés , la voix du chanteur ayant pas mal de similitudes avec celle de Peter Gabriel n'y étant certainement pas pour rien. Albums préférés The Seldom Seen Kid (mention pour The loneliness of a tower crane driver) et le récent The Take off and Landing of everything
Discovered them through their most accessible release: The Seldom Seen Kid and that is one of the most complex albums I have listened to. I may still be a casual listener of their music by only listening to that record and other tracks by them, they're a very under-rated band even for the British music industry. Let's hope these guys stay on top of their game for many years to come and may be remembered for making music wonderfully original.
One of my favourite bands. I like their 3 latest albums a lot, especially The Seldom Seen Kid, that was also the album, which shone the light on them for me. But I'm a hugh fan of their concerts, a concert of them is like sitting in a sofa in the jungle and enjoying all the thrills of nature without blinking an eye. Hail Elbow.
Great live experience. Love the band, other band you can get like a dime in a dozen, but not so for Elbow, this is something <>. ELbow is a rela experience, on album and live.
For years the great undiscovered band. Now a bit ubiquitous. Love the first 3 albums, especially Leaders of the Free World. The last 2 are good, but they have bowed a little towards a more commercial audience. Still, great lyrically and great all round songwriters. And Guy Garvey has a good line in audience banter - sadly rare these days.
Bid dumb name for a band, probably an inside thing. I put them off for a while because they were listed as folk music in something I looked at. The Seldom Seen Kid is what I listened to. I like it. Kind of has a Peter Gabriel thing going on at times (but better in my opnion). I cant quite place it but they sound like someone I've hear before. Anyway, they have intriguing vocals, all songs seem good.
I used to like them a lot more in the past. I would still call The Seldom Seen Kid and Asleep In the Back great albums though. The other 2 have got a few good tracks between them
