Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 17% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.2/100, a mean average of 73.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.1.

A qualche canzone valida se ne alternano, secondo me, altre un po' autoindulgenti. Semplicemente, forse, rispetto a come sarà "Out of the game", qua i pezzi sono meno a fuoco a livello di scrittura. I capolavori sono altra cosa, ma i dischi brutti pure.
Rufus wainwright's fifth album was a slight disappointment after the genius of the, want, LP's. Still, it is Wainwright, so all is not lost. There are still superb songs, the best being, going to a town, between my legs, and the stunning, slideshow. Tiergarten, is nice, nobody's off the hook, is excellent, and the title track is superb. Weaker moments though are the throwaway, rules and regulations, the slight, sansoucci, and the boring, leaving for paris. It was always going to be difficult for Wainwright to keep that level of quality up, and indeed, about two thirds of this album is as good as anything he released before, it's just the other third let's it down. He's human after all.
