Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. Niafunké? Hell yes! It’s a beautiful album, but only appears in four overall charts...mine, yours, Lowkey’s, and kadupheming’s...who apparently sucks.

Definitely jazz-centric but SO diverse with types of jazz and countries and eras they come from, plus some branches into other genres. Added to favorites, lovely chart

Really good jazz chart!
First you establish your credibility with that top 10 and then you gift us with dozens of fascinating, unpredictable picks. A real treasure this list.
Hey everyone, I'm glad I could spread some cool music and nice moments.
This list is not very organized or methodical, usually just how I'm feeling when I decide to update it. So if anyone has questions about it, wants some recomendations not on the chart, or just wants to talk about music, feel free to send me a message :)

Gosh I feel rather floored by this chart. I wouldn't say I know enough of these records to leave a rating so I'll leave it unrated for now. Definitely will use this for jazz recs, great stuff!

Moacir and Hermeto is almost always a win for a chart, and I'm a loser for brazilian jizz jazz :D
Terrific chart! 2/3 jazz -- you rarely see an overall chart more than half jazz on here. Great overlap with my charts and tastes.
