Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 2% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 86.2/100, a mean average of 87.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 87.2/100. The standard deviation for this track is 11.0.

An outstanding piece of music and my favourite track from Wind & Wuthering. I just wish they would have played it live more. The Hagstrom 8 string bass sounds amazing and Mike's playing on this track throughout is simply extraordinary.
Very pretty beginning and end to this one with a nice little moment of prog madness in the middle. Banks truly shines on this one with his gorgeous piano, mellotron and keyboards, but Collins is just as great with his vocals, which often go into falsetto. The best part of the song may be the final minute when all the madness comes together again for one spectacular finale. As far as Genesis' long prog epics go, I don't think this one is as good or as memorable as others like Dancing with the Moonlit Knight, In the Cage, Firth of Fith, etc., and I don't think it needed to be as long as any of those songs, but it's still a joy to listen to.
The highlight of post-Gabriel Genesis. Tony Banks’s inventive songwriting coagulates brilliantly, Collins sings with passion and utilizes his vocal range wonderfully, not to mention his superb drumming, Hackett’s guitar slides through the piece spectacularly, and Rutherford’s bass does extremely well to hold the piece together. One for the Vine is a criminally unknown gem in the admittedly inconsistent Genesis discography following Peter Gabriel’s departure, and it really ought to have the exposure as many classic Genesis masterpieces such as Dancing with the Moonlit Night and Carpet Crawlers
