Something different for a change, after all these albums sung in English., sweet

A thoroughly enjoyable album that has a lot of unique and interesting moments to keep you engaged throughout. The acoustic and electric guitars play off each other well and create a unique dynamic in the sound. The vocal added on top of this makes for a fantastic combination that sounds raw and passionate. The performances all round on here are great with each instrument being given the time to shine and be admired by the listener. There are a few songs that do feel a little slower and weaker but they don't take away from the phenomenal tracks or suck us out of the album. Overall, a great album that is enjoyable to listen to and explore this unique and wonderful record.

Un gran disco de principio a fin. Merece un puesto mayor en el ranking.

Hasta que al fin me animo a comentar este fenomenal album. Qué decir? Comenzar con honestidad, y es que la primera vez que lo escuché, no me tocó por completo, claro, entendía lo que representaba y yo que no soy argentino, había visto en mi DVD unas 10 veces El Último Concierto de Soda, y por ahí que entre unos compañeros de la secundaria había escuchado el nombre de Spinetta, pero jamás me había preocupado por escuchar uno de sus temas. Pues decidí aventurarme con el que es considerado el mejor album de la historia del rock argentino, Artaud de Pescado Rabioso (que en realidad solo fue compuesto por Spinetta).

Lo escuché por primera vez hace ya un par de meses, y percibí un sonido melancólico, esperanzador, muy experimental y algunas canciones me sorprendieron mucho, como "Superchería", que hasta hoy es mi favorita, otra que me sorprendió fue "Por", cuya letra está explícitamente formada por palabras sueltas que evocan el significado que cada uno le pone. Esta canción es muy corta pero me parece una genialidad. La otra que me sorprendió fue "Cantata de Puentes Amarillos" al presentar diversos fragmentos de canción y además que es la más larga del album. Nada, como dije no conecté al principio, pero unas dos semanas después volví a escuchar y escuchar y escuchar y me enganchó. No me costó mucho para amarlo. Además, de solo ver en youtube el live de "Bajan" de Spinetta con Cerati... ufff no tengo palabras, es de esos momentos indescriptibles que se viven una sola vez en la vida.

Otro aspecto que me encanta es que el Flaco era un fan acérrimo de los Beatles que tanto amo e incluso tiene la sutileza de incluir "She Loves You" en el que considero el tema más flojo del album, "A Starosta, el idiota" (pero igual disfrutable). En fin, Las Habladurías del Mundo es otra genialidad, con las vocales sincronizadas al ritmo del riff de la guitarra. "Cementerio Club" es la que probablemente me tomó un poco más de volverme fan y ahora la amo completamente, una canción de casi 5 minutos donde hay poca letra pero que cala perfectamente en lo justo y necesario que requiere.

En fin, así podría extenderme y remarcar todo lo que me parece genial de este album, no nos olvidemos de la poesía en general de todos los temas, y de la poesía especial y dulzura que me genera "Todas las Hojas son del Viento". En mis reviews de albums siempre menciono mis canciones favoritas, pero ahora tengo que decir que son TODAS, porque dejar fuera una sola me costaría mucho, además de que son 9 y las 9 son tremendas.

Artaud es actualmente mi #2 album favorito de todos los tiempos.

A fairly enjoyable rock album. I like the somewhat seamless blend of psychedelic, blues, and prog rock on this project. The guitar work is fantastic, as well as the songwriting. The somewhat bare instrumentation on some of the songs on this album, like on the song Cantata de puentes amarillos, is quite interesting and works surprisingly well. I couldn't tell you if the lyrics are bad or not, as I do not speak Spanish. I do think the singing is a bit weak and timid, sort of like Neil Young, but Young's arrangements and visions aren't as ambitious, which is why it works for him. It does not work as well for Luis Alberto Spinetta. That being said, it's not too much to complain about here, because Mr. Spinetta treats you to some fantastic and winding compositions.

One last thing, the original packaging for this record seems pretty cool if you were to think of it in your head, but it is very impractical and ugly in reality. That doesn't really effect my listening experience for this album, as I am streaming it, but it is something to take note of.

People should stop rating with just a quick and superficial listen. If you're commited to connect with an album in spanish language, and maybe to do some research regarding lyrics an context, you wouldn't give 40/100 or 60/100 to this masterpiece.

Masterpiece of all times. I wish people from this page would understand the importance of this album. Isn´t just the best album in Argentinian history: this is the best ever album sung in spanish lenguage.
A concept album composed by the great Luis Alberto Spinetta in a difficult moment of Argentina and on a folk style. After his broke-up from them band mates he decides to keep using the name Pescado Rabioso and record this solo album.
The lyrics are so fantastic as the music. A whole album about the impact of Antonin Artaud on Spinetta views about everything arround him on those days.
A classical album in music history that it´s unique even on the shape of the art cover, being an irregular form. As Spinetta said, "The album suicided by society" in allusion to Artaud´s book, "Van Gogh: the man suicided by society".

I hope that people from English-speaking countries will one day understand the value of this album and, that it has nothing to envy to the albums of European / American / Canadian / Australian artists. It is at the same level and even surpasses to many of them.
