It's hard to choose between this and The Number of the Beast, but ultimately this has got to be Maidens best album and the best pure metal album yet made (AC/DC being disqualified for having to much roll in their rock). Every single track is strong AND it contains instant hits in Aces High, Flash of the Blade and Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Listen to this and kneel to the Gods of Heavy Metal.

I diagree with others that this album has lots of filler. This is far and away my favorite Maiden album, and the "filler" tracks, like Back in the Village, are some of my favorites on the record.

Some kick ass heavy metal from the irons. The first album where they really match the magic of their debut. The progressive epic 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' is captivating.

I give too many 100s, but holy shit I love this album despite it not being 100% perfect. Maybe a 99...
Aces High, Two Minutes to Midnight, Flash of the Blade, Powerslave, and Rime of the Ancient Mariner are spectacular tracks, and the other three are pretty good yet just aren't on the same level. If people can give Sgt. Pepper a 100 with crap like When I'm Sixty For on in then I can give this a 100.

An outstanding beginning and end to this album make this well worth a listen especially with the volume turned up very high. The riffs and guitar solos on here are just fantastic as they are so filled with energy and passion that you can't help but love them. It is such a influential release because of this as I can imagine the huge number of people that listened to the instrumentation on here and picked up a guitar or bass in response to it. Overall, this is a must listen in the metal genre and is one of the groups greatest releases. (Edited)
