Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 4% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 79.5/100, a mean average of 78.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.7/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 19.8.

of all the Heavy Metal bands, 'Iron Maiden' are the best I've heard, I first heard them on a compilation album called 'Heavy', the opening track, 'Number of the Beast', I've been hooked ever since. (Edited)
Maiden have a large discography of shit hot legendary albums. But they have also had their slump periods which has produced some average productions. As a whole though, they are one of the forebearers and one of, it not, the greatest band in the history of NWOBHM (Edited)
Fell in love with them when I was younger for their incredible 80's output (Beast through Seventh Son). Fell back in love with them recently when I started listening to their "reunion" albums (Brave New World through Senjutsu). Amazing consistency for a band that's been around for so long.
Best Band of All Time (Edited)
I prefer Paul Di’Anno over Bruce Dickinson as a singer but have to admit they made their best albums Number of the Beast & Powerslave with Bruce although I have the first 2 albums right after.
