Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 4% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 79.5/100, a mean average of 78.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.8/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 20.0.

Maiden have a large discography of shit hot legendary albums. But they have also had their slump periods which has produced some average productions. As a whole though, they are one of the forebearers and one of, it not, the greatest band in the history of NWOBHM
Fell in love with them when I was younger for their incredible 80's output (Beast through Seventh Son). Fell back in love with them recently when I started listening to their "reunion" albums (Brave New World through Senjutsu). Amazing consistency for a band that's been around for so long.
Best Band of All Time

I prefer Paul Di’Anno over Bruce Dickinson as a singer but have to admit they made their best albums Number of the Beast & Powerslave with Bruce although I have the first 2 albums right after.
One of the best metal bands ever. They're just not for me
Paul Di’Anno years are simply perfection. Raspy-voiced singer brought elements of punk stylings to Maiden.
Debut Iron Maiden and follow up Killers remain necessities in anyone’s collection. Softer songs like Prodigal Son and Remember Tomorrow harken back to Priest’s Last Rose of Summer and exhibit a musicianship never heard again from the quintet. Their heavy early songs such as Phantom of the Opera, Transylvania, Prowler, Killers, Drifter, Purgatory and Wrathchild left an indelible mark with a progressive metal sound on future speed- and thrash metal groups.
Clive Burr was a terrific drummer for the band.

Not as heavy as I was expecting. I was never allowed to listen to them as a kid, so all I knew was the Eddie album covers. By the time I snuck them, they weren't as demonic or head-pounding as the hype had told me. Despite this, they are a seminal metal band, and they are epic live.

They found a gallop metal

I'm obviously one of the rare guys who likes all of their phases. DiAnno era is the most energetic era they'd had, punkish and splendid. The debut and Killers are stone cold classics and for a good reason. Next 5 albums and Live After Death are their golden era. Sure, No Prayer - Virtual XI streak isn't the best, but all 4 albums from that time are ok, not bad, and each and every one has some fantastic songs. How can you hate Bayley when he sang The Sign Of The Cross, Lord Of The Flies, Man On The Edge, Futureal, The Clansman... All 5 imo some of their best songs. From Brave New World till this day, only Dance of Death is a tad weaker, and The Final Frontier + The Book of Souls are as good as anything they'd released in the 80s. Maybe because I like prog? Make sure you give their albums you don't like a second and a third listen, they're worth it! and btw, did I say they're one of my favourite bands ever?

The number one iconic Heavy Metal band. Maiden saved my life back in 1982, as they released Number Of The Beast. Their first seven albums are simply one of the best and important Heavy Metal releases, especially their debut album, the mentioned Number Of The Beast and Powerslave. Though they have released some weaker, or lets say uninspired albums later on, I will love them til the day I die. Up The Irons!
