Here is my second contribution of 1990 albums I listened to:
- Cowboys From Hell by Pantera (nr 22 on the overall BEA top chart of 1990): however much I liked Painkiller of Judas Priest I don't like its twin brother of 1990, Cowboys from Hell. Where the guitars on Painkiller were really top notch, this is not the case here and to me it's all a bit bland and uninspired which also goes for the singing.
- Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys (nr 23): the first track on this album I already knew, Being Boring, and the last track I didn't know, Jealousie, are good, but the rest of the album is really not the good Pet Shop Boys I know from other albums. So the final verdict is a no.
- Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 by George Michael (nr 24): I really don't like Freedom but many of the other tracks are soulful and actually not to bad but overall a bit too smooth for my taste.
The next album to listen to is Twin Infinitives by Royal Trux.
Some more albums of 1990 I listened to:
- Twin Infinitives by Royal Trux (nr 25 on the overall BEA top chart of 1990): too experimental and no real songs
- Frizzle Fry by Primus (nr 29): Too Many Puppies was somewhat of a cult hit at the time and also Mr Know It All is just at the right side of weird but good but all the rest is on the wrong side from me: I never got into Primus.
- Seasons In The Abyss by Slayer (nr 30): wow this album is good and even better than its two predecessors: it's fast and furious and even faster and furiouser, the soloing is incredible and this is about the best trash metal you can find on this planet. There is not a bad track to be found on this album and above all it is varied enough to never get boring.
- Naked City by John Zorn (nr 31): sometimes pure noise/free jazz sometimes easy listening, sometimes loungy and on the whole not really coherent nor interesting.
The next album to listen to is Facelift by Alice In Chains.

I LOVE all those albums including Facelift. I can only listen to Naked City and Twin Infinitives when I'm in the right mood though. Frizzle Fry though is one of my faves for the year along with Seasons for the Abyss. Facelift was one of my faves to rock out to as well. Facelift catches Alice In Chains in a neat little position between (good) hair metal and grunge and it totally works.
This is my last contribution for albums of 1990 I listened to:
- Facelift by Alice In Chains (nr 35 on the overall BEA top chart of 1990): this album is to me just boring and hasn't stood the test of time: certainly not the best grunge around.
- People's Instinctive Travels And The Paths Of Rhythm by A Tribe Called Quest (nr 37): again a rap album I don't really like
- Bellybutton by Jellyfish (nr 38 ): I was a bit in limbo on this album: it's sugary powerpop and sometimes it's even filled with hooks and catchy but then there comes another cheesy bit and finally I decided not to include this album in my personal top chart of 1990
- Crazy World by Scorpions (nr 39): I'm a big fan of their earlier albums but this one is just bad and only a shadow of what they used to represent. Including bad slows like Winds of Change doesn't help.
- Social Distortion by Social Distortion (nr 40 and the last album to have a better overall BEA rank better than 2500: yes Mercury): I must admit I only know the band from Story Of My Life, a song that went on and on in Guitar Hero (I tried hard to learn real guitar but I think I was too old when I started so I had to revert to the unreal thing ๐ ). I thought I would not like the track outside the Guitar Hero context but it surprised me by being very interesting after all and this also counts for the other tracks on this album. This just good American powerpunk, not outstanding but just very good.
And this concludes my journey through the year 1990, not the worst year in rock history and did make some new discoveries (albums not band) but mainly in the metal genre type Slayer and Judas Priest.
This is the final verdict with at the start the overall BEA rank and after that the BEA year rank and my personal rank before and after this listening session:

myyyyy man! I'm glad you at least enjoyed Social Distortion!
I was a bit afraid I wouldn't like it because my experience is (especially also on this journey) that American westcoast punk albums which didn't catch on in Europe didn't catch on just because they're not really good. This is certainly an exception so thanks for the tip Mercury

Yeah I feel you. It's not revolutionary or mind expanding or particularly interesting music. It's just pretty straight forward rock/punk/country stuff. But Mike Ness is so into it and sincere I always feel a bit swept up in the overall "fudge yeah!!! ROCK AND ROLL!" Aspect of it. Their next album "Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell" is basically more of the same, but I think they hmade their masterpiece there. It's just a great rock, Clash meets Cash record. Both are really. _________________ -Ryan

That's an awesome top 44!!! Just show that 1990 rules. My list would look completely different and if I could make year charts this would probably inspire to do my own. Maybe I'll come back with my top ten a little later just for fun.
But really an impressive undertaking, Dihansse! ๐
Okay, It was impossible for me to whittle it down to just a top ten without actually listening to the records again. since I'm in a mellow state of mind, that's impossible rn. lol.
So, here's what I could muster...
Tilly's favorite albums of 1990
1. Galaxie 500 - This Is Our Music
2. Megadeth - Rust In Peace
3. Jesus Lizard - Head
4. Ride - Nowhere
5. A Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels And The Paths Of Rhythm
6. The Posies - Dear 23
7. Fugazi - Repeater
8. Nick Cave - The Good Son
9. Sonic Youth - Goo
10. Slayer - Seasons in The Abyss
11. The Laโs - Theโs Laโs
12. Ice Cube - AmeriKKKaโs Most Wanted
13. Uncle Tupelo - No Depression
14. Primus - Frizzle Fry
15. The Flaming Lips - In A Priest Driven Ambulance
16. Helmet - Strap It On
17. Cocteau Twins - Heaven Or Las Vegas
18. The Breeders - Pod
