Goodish album, with an amazing title track, very solid 1st side, but the second half of it really drops off.

Not too heavy, not too light. Good memories of discovering Pantera with this anlbum and keeping me semi- interested in metal as the wave of Grunge came crashing in.

Pedrada boa pra burro!
Musically superior to Vulgar Display of Power, more variety and some genuinly great songs like the title track, Cemetery Gates, Domination and Primal Concrete Sledge.
Great album. When I was younger I used to detest Phil's high vocals, now I like them! Cemetery Gates and Domination may be the best songs Pantera has ever done.
My favorite Pantera record, the production is amazing and all 4 members sound great. Some of Dime's best riffs and solos, and Anselmo's vocals are off the charts. It is definitely their thrashiest record, which is probably one of the reasons it is the Pantera album I go back to most frequently.
Sumidos en la mediocridad absoluta, podemos considerar 'Cowboys From Hell' como el auténtico debut de los legendarios Pantera, que se habían pegado dando tumbos durante todos los 80 con una música edulcorada con la que no habían conseguido nada. Pocos podían augurar que una banda con tan bochornosa trayectoria fuera a ser la gran dominadora de los 90 reinventando el Metal. De los últimos estertores de un Thrash que poco a poco agonizaba y con una base rítmica que perdía velocidad en favor del machaque puro, 'Cowboys From Hell' se presenta como uno de los discos definitivos del Metal. Obra maestra del género que sentaría las bases del Groove Metal, un género basado en la agresividad del Thrash pero con una velocidad completamente distinta. El disco en cuestión está lleno de clásicos y sin él no entenderíamos el Metal de los 90 como lo entendemos.
