Yeah, I can't get behind this line of thinking. Ghostface is probably my favourite artist, but he has been depressingly uninspired for years. (Actually, his most recent album had some moments where it felt like the old spark was back, but before that you have to go back to 2010's Apollo Kids to find an album that wasn't either sleep-inducingly boring or otherwise entirely propped up by production that deserved far better.)

EDIT: Just seen you were joking. My point about Ghostface still stands, though judging by RYM ratings it seems I am clearly in the minority.

36 Seasons was cool, way more so in context with its comic booklet. And I really like Sour Soul. Neither is very close to peak Ghostface, but I wouldn't call them uninspired.

That's kind of what I meant by the joke too. Perhaps all those other Ghostface fans can't admit that his later albums aren't as good cause they feel a sense of loyalty. I really should check out Ghostface's discography myself as I love 36 chambers and GZA's solo "Liquid Swords" but for some reason never got around to anything else from Wu-Tang.

In fact, I am about to go listen to some Ghostface albums so I can form my own opinion about this.

I guess this is cheating... perfect albums by amazing bands, but then they lost their key player(s) and the band went to shit.

The Doors by The Doors

Full Circle by The Doors

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground

Squeeze by The Velvet Underground

Also some argue Boy, War, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby are perfect albums by U2 (it seems there's never a consensus on when their peak was or their downfall was... but that's a different conversation). Their last album was mostly shit.

A true fan will never admit if an artist they like makes a bad album!

I have mixed feelings about this statement. With the album being from your favorite act, how bad is it really when one thing about the album is already right, its your favorite act doing the performing and not someone else?

God bless you always!!!

Oh damn... yeah Raditude and Hurley... they just don't exist to me. I won't even acknowledge their existence... except when I am... like right now. ๐Ÿคฃ

Near perfect album:

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles

Pretty awful album:

Beatles For Sale by The Beatles

[Kansas City and maybe one or two others aside]

And I say this as a Beatles fan.
