Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 41.5/100, a mean average of 39.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 39.1/100. The standard deviation for this album is 23.3.

pretty much what is said below is 100% on. not a terrible record. but a terrible velvet underground record. sounds more like a record of songs that didn't make the cut for a nuggets disc.

As far as the actual music goes, I would say the 61/100 assigned to it by aggregating its songs is fair. Not a TERRIBLE album, but it is HIGHLY disappointing after the first four VU albums. Historically, it is going to go down as complete garbage for hijacking the title 'Velvet Underground' for publicity. Really, it is just a disappointment because, otherwise, the Velvets had a perfect discography. Really, it is better to just pretend that this wasn't a Velvets record.

Listenable - for a Doug Yule solo project - alas marketed as a VU album... Ian Paice (Deep Purple) drumming.

To be honest, if someone gave me this album and I had no idea what it was, I would probably just think it to be generic pop music. The music itself isn't abysmal, but as a matter of principle I have to give it the lowest rating. It is a testament to greedy corporate record producers trying to milk money out of one of the greatest bands ever. It is truly disgusting that Doug Yule was forced to make this album and market it as Velvet Underground material. At least the album is now a rarity and out of print.
