David Bowie (Space Oddity) by David Bowie
Not everybody will agree but I find this is one of his best and not only because of the classic Space Oddity. The majority of the tracks are very folky but I love them to pieces with especially Wild Eyed Boy From Freecloud (although the orchestration is a bit dated) and Memory Of A Free Festival as highlights. And moves up from the 7th to the 6th rank of 1969.
An album on my wishlist:
Taste by Taste
The first album of Taste the first band of Rory Galagher and this is already a fine fairly standard bluesrock album however with standouts like Blister On The Moon, Sugar Mama, Born On The Wrong Side Of Time and Catfish. Comes in at 16th.

Tea For The Tillerman by Cat Stevens
One of the best of Cat Stevens especially because of three special songs: of course Wild World but especially Sad Lisa and Father And Son which are little gems of soothing but never mellow songs. Still ranked high but goes down one rank from 6 to 7.

Wishbone Ash by Wishbone Ash
This is the twin-guitar attack Wishbone Ash I like. This is their debut album and maybe they're still trying to find their way especially on the singing front but they do know how to play guitar especially on the second half of the album with also two tracks over 10 minutes and especially Phoenix shines. This album enters at the 15th rank.
Untitled (Led Zeppelin IV) by Led Zeppelin
The first ranked album in my 1971 year chart and I didn't change a thing after relistening to it: Rock 'n Roll and Stairway To Heaven are still among my all-time favorite tracks (the song can't help it if it maybe has been played a bit too much on the radio).

Broken Barricades by Procol Harum
A bit viewed as the poor little brother of the Procol Harum family also because Matthew Fischer isn't a member of the band anymore and Robin Trower got a bit fed up with the band. But in my opinion there are still two outstanding tracks her: Simple Sister and Luskus Delph and there's nothing wrong with the rest of the tracks so comes in at 9.
Exile On Main St. by The Rolling Stones
I always regarded this album as a good rock 'n roll album with many tracks that are consistently good but never very good. But that's not completely true: Rocks Off, Tumblin Dice and All Down The Line rise above the mainstream. So all in all a good album but I still think this is not the Stones' best, but who knows, maybe one of their most consistent. And it goes up from the 11th to the 6th rank.

Never A Dull Moment by Rod Stewart
This is another album by the not yet completely overcommercialised period of Rod Stewart with one highlight, You Wear It Well. Maybe it has inherited the general sound of Maggie May but it stands very well on its own two feet. Accompanied by a few well-chosen covers and some more originals, Rod Stewart's voice shines here. Good for the 13th rank of the year.
The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd
About time I listened to this album in its totality. Wish You Were Here is still my favorite Floyd album but this is nearly it as this is for me the perfect album album (even more than The Wall) as all pieces fit perfectly (maybe only Money is the odd one out) so it's also difficult to score all these tracks individually. But I did increase my scores on many of them and the album makes an incredible and deserved jump from the 6th to the first rank.

Volcanic Rock by Buffalo
I think I have Purplepash to thank for this one and I'm glad he did. This is the Australian more bluesy version of Black Sabbath and it just sounds gritty but wonderful: from the great first track to the second long and trippy second track to the following three tracks which are maybe a bit more boring but are saved by incredible guitar work to the last ultimate hardrocking highlight Shylock. This volcanic rock is a great discovery and it immediately lands at the 11th rank of the year.

That's awesome that you listened to and liked Volcanic Rock. Makes me happy. Pretty much agree with everything you said, except for we have different songs we liked best. Agree with what you said abkut DSOTM too. I've been loving reading your diary over the years.
