Great contributions from Kim on this one. Second only to Doolittle.

When combined with Come on Pilgrim, it's perfect. _________________ Finnegan was super bad-ass.

Instant classic. Although I prefer Doolittle, Surfer Rosa is no slouch. Both are classics as far as I'm concerned.

I can see why someone may think it's overrated. I just feel the mix of the maniacal vocals and insane and crunchy guitar and just the speed and FEROCITY of the production and playing mixed with the wildly good hooks and melodies and the female vocals on here is something that I only can find in early Pixies and early Gun Club. I mean this certain definite feeling, obviously I can find similarly invigorating sounds in lots of other albums.
I think anyone who digs this will probably really dig the 1981 album "Fire of Love" by The Gun Club.
And did I mention the beautiful album cover? |
This.

"Bone Machine" into "Break My Body" was the moment I truly fell in love with this band. "Gigantic" also secured Kim Deal's position as the sexiest woman in music for me.
Ahem, anyway. Just a masterpiece, that's all that needs saying with this one. Check it out if you've not heard it already.
