does not resonate with me at all, no replay value either.
ridiculous that it is higher than the epic Lonesome.

Fair enough, DD. I think there's some fantastic songs on it, the first three in particular. Is a bit long, though, and certainly not for everyone.

That's funny DD because I usually can't stand Modest Mouse but for me, this album is tolerable at its worst and enjoyable at its best.

Side note, saw Modest Mouse live around 10 years ago and they were awful. Not sure if that was an off day for them because I've heard they usually do pretty good live shows :/

For a long time, I wasn't too crazy about this album, especially cause Lonesome Crowded West was (and still is) my favorite Modest Mouse album.

However, the past few months when I was relistening to their discography this album just clicked. The inner conflict a person can face when questioning the meaning of life really hit home for me. On top of that, how the album descends from its quiet and contemplative tone to a gut-punching end with "What People Are Made Of" always leaves me unsettled.

One of those artist I could never get into despite trying for many times. There just seems to be nothing that moves me about their music, and the singer sound just completely uniniteresting.

I've heard they can be a bit unpredictable, which doesn't surprise me given Isaac Brock's personality. I saw them about five years ago and they were great even though the set was largely Strangers to Ourselves songs. They didn't play "Float On" though and I heard some people loudly complaining about that as I was leaving, so they might have had a different opinion of the show.

I used to like this better than LCW but I've grown to prefer that one instead. This is still one of my 20 favorite albums though and an album I never get sick of. If anything I think it's too short Very Happy . Also the second half of "The Stars are Projectors" sounds like a Godspeed song and is just glorious.

It meant a whole lot to a depressed 21-22 year me having a major existential crisis. Well, still does, even if I'm more likely to listen to Interstate 8 or at parts of Lonesome Crowded West nowadays.
