Hope Bandcamp releases a list this year. I know ownership/management, etc has most likely been thrown about a whole bunch this year.
Actually quite interested in P4k's song list this year. No solid guess for the top 5, let alone #1. I'm thinking Boy's a Liar Pt. 2 (or maybe A&W?). I haven't been following singles as much as albums this year.

Even though this is an EP instead of an album, to me, this is the best release of 2023.

Same. Bandcamp and The Quietus are the 2 that I can rely on for new music recs at the end of the year. Most publications' lists end up looking like rearranged copies of each other. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

The Quietus is always the best list of the year imo. The Pitchfork list usually has a few gems in it - bare minimum it's typically better than Rolling Stone and others _________________ 2023 Chart

I know boomkat is a store and there's ethical concerns over undisclosed in-house labels getting good placements on their lists, but I do still find more common ground with that than the quietus. I dunno just kinda feels like quietus is all over the place, not a coherent point of view. Tho I can see how that could be an advantage
But also I think the real hot ticket is when boomkat shares individual lists from all those different musicians, I always find something incredible that way. Same with the individual lists from the wire contributors. Consensus lists always lose the real interesting stuff! _________________ 2023 music critic simulator

Oooh. Thanks for posting. I didn't realize they'd published already.
Lankum at #1 makes me feel great about hyping this list. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Hell yeah! Lankum's been one of my favorite discoveries from these lists! Powerful stuff!

Well, can't say I was far off.
Plenty on here I haven't heard. Can't judge it just yet, but it's looking decent.
Seeing NewJeans' Super Shy pop up on a whole bunch of lists. Haven't heard it yet (I'll get on it later), but it seems like this year's mandatory 100M+-Youtube-views-song that I missed while living under a rock apparently. (I also missed The Hillbillies...???? when did that come out?— I'll get on it later too)
Making the Band (Danity Kane) hitting the top 10 is a really nice recognition for Earl. Glad that landed so high. Likewise Amaarae's Co-Star (top 20).
Jessie Ware's Begin Again being absent should be criminal. Bizarre omission.
