I think there's some potential in this thread. If people move onto sharing their artists recs from more 'obscure' countries and hopefully discussion develops from there, I'd be fascinated by top 5 from various African/Asian nations etc., some of you guys are definitely well listened in them.
So to (hopefully) kickstart something of interest, here's my take on...
JAMAICA
1. Lee 'Scratch' Perry (The Upsetters, Max Romeo, all that sort of stuff...)
2. Toots & The Maytals
3. The Congos
4. Scientist
5. Joe Gibbs & The Professionals
And here's a new take on...
IRELAND
1. My Bloody Valentine (Pretty unpredictable right?)
2. The Sultans Of Ping FC (Good fun punk rock)
3. The Fatima Mansions (New wave/post-punk-ish...?)
4. Whipping Boy (Alt, dream pop at times sort of stuff)
5. The Hard Ground (Fuck it, 5th could have been any of about 30 artists, but I have a soft spot for these guys, blues, folk, occasionally indie-dream pop sort of...)
So it took me 20 minutes to write this (I'm studying...), here's hoping the thread has not been derailed in the meantime...

Because if I make a post, I have the right not to be trolled by people like Skinny no matter how "fucking dumb" the thread is. I have a right to post here, and I have a right toossibly find out how they would do it. I'm not asking for their social security. If you don't like the thread, how about you JUST DON'T POST?

In a perfect world, perhaps, but if people dislike a thread they have no such rule that tells them they cannot express their discontent (like myself with the overrated thread the other night); you have protection against being personally attacked, but not against barring people from expressing their discontent of a thread. I do not think Skinny is trolling, I think he is being honest albeit bluntly so.

Yeah, the second I hit enter on my post I came back to reality... 
But I do think there's some potential for good discussion here, someone drop their top 5 artists from Senegal or Japan or Trinidad, heck, it could be done by cities, states or even genres (Top 5 American Blues artists anyone?). If people get creative there's some potential and hopefully discussion as a result (It also means I can steal a ton of recs for the summer...  )
