It's one of my favs by them, Love tender and "coffee & TV", this album makes me feel sad, even tender that I sing I feel like I'm alone all the time, and even the angry moments here only go deeper in the sadness. _________________ Top 100 Hits you must hear before the u... of beauty

I was expecting to love this, but it's like my third favourite from them; behind the s/t and Parklife. Maybe it will be better with a relisten soon. _________________

An old favorite, for sure. Blur all but shed their britpop roots here.

I've never heard it.
I have a years long up and down "relationship" with "Parklife". Right now I think it's pretty solid. At other times I've thought it was a bloody masterpiece and still other times I've thought it was not all it was cracked up to be at all. Now I'm in the middle on it. Yet, honestly I have a great respect for the variety and gorgeous melodies of that album. Love it's Kinks feel at times.
Anyway, if I like that album, I think I will probably like/love this. Is that a fair assumption, people? _________________ -Ryan

Not really, tbh, this is a completely different beast. Despite being one of the founders of britpop, Blur speaks a language that's very American here.

Well, as someone who loved Parklife at the time (I still do by the way), coming into 13 was as big as a surprise as it was 15 years ago. Way different and a lot more abrasive while tackling a lot more personal subjects than just a memorabilia of Britain. But, you may prefer that side to Blur and may relate to it more seeing how you love Pinkerton so it depends on the interpretation of it. But generally, no I don't think it's that fair to judge an album's quality because the artist has put out great material. _________________

This has been my #1 record of all time at very points. I think there's something special about the multiple fractured relationships weighing down on Blur at this point. Between Damon's own heartbreak and Coxon's opposing views about the direction of the band, the emotions run deep. With heavy guitar effects all over the record, it soars deep into space but Damon manages to hold true to the emotional core that also keeps the album feeling human. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com
