A real cold and distant album to listen to. It's somewhat of a detriment to my enjoyment of it, but there are moments where I absolutely love the atmosphere. _________________

In my mind this is one of the greatest albums ever made. What really impresses me is how completely engulfing and inclusive the atmosphere is. It's so foggy and downtrodden and this whole little world is created and just maintained throughout. Nothing pulls me out of the smoky trance ambience of the record. The beats and voices and changes are engaging af throughout. The vocal snippets are haunting and beautiful. Man, this album is one d the few in my mind that feels totally unique and completely well executed from start to finish. Nothing else makes me feel the moods and vibes this album does.
10/10, BNM, Two Thumbs Up, five stars, best album of '07, etc etc.

One of the few albums I consider to be an actual masterpiece, Burial has never quite repeated the trick. The two words Mercury chose fit it best, 'haunting and beautiful'. I don't think it feels distant, if anything it feels clastrophobic, - moments like the interview about the boy 'with a lot of love in him' make an otherwise electronic album feel really human, and that's why I love it. Also the beats are sweet.

Gonna echo what other people are saying really. Very atmospheric listen, very much a grower.
I will disagree however and say that I prefer the Kindred EP to Untrue (though Untrue trumps Rival Dealer for me). _________________ Top 100 Greatest Music Albums

One of my favorite ever albums, the ambient tracks have actually been becoming among my favorites but the more garage type tracks are brilliant too and provide very interesting soundscapes that are great with every listen. Very emotional for this type of music too.

every so often i end up going through this site that lists missing/unidentified people. im particularly drawn to the ones with pics, sometimes of what the corpse was found wearing, or some accessory they had with them. i think it goes without saying that i do this at night.
when i do i always listen to burial. its the only thing dark and mysterious enough.
not rival dealer tho,, but definitely this one. _________________
