have definitely come to appreciate this more over the years. love it can be seen both as unique entry in the endlessly bold catalogue of Afrofuturist art and just some straight up shameless sci-fi nerd from a dude who taught himself Japanese to watch anime. still prefer some of the Del solo stuff but I have a lot of fun with this these days

Repo this better be on your team at some point! An absolutely brilliant collection of songs with some of the best skits of all time. Forward-thinking, creative, fun and thoughtful. The title track is something else. Probably in my top 10 hip hop albums.

Can honestly take or leave it. I like Del a lot - great rapping voice - but his flow, with its attempts to put together small clusters of long words in clumsy patterns, lacking regard for the pocket, is just not my thing. He reminds me of a showier Jeru; I like both but struggle with either of the course of an entire album. Also, these beats aren't it, man. I don't dislike it by any means, but it isn't an album I care for remotely. There's definitely more chance of Repo picking this record than there would've been if I'd got my way and nominated 2000 in time.
